Getting Underway - Going to the Tug Fest meant that the boat needed to be dressed up for the occasion and so it's name was stenciled on for the first time. It also meant a road trip to Everett because cruising all the way from White Rock to Bremerton would take more time than we had available. We set off with our neighbours, the crew of the Red Current. In the US, fuel is cheaper than in Canada by a significant amount and launching and parking at Everett is significantly cheaper as well. Apparently, the trade-off is "free" health care in Canada. Launch in Everett is $8 and then $3/day to park. Here in White Rock it is $14 to launch then $9/day to park. In Vancouver, it is $18 to launch and then $18/day to park.
Bremerton/Port Orchard - Bremerton was as welcoming this year as in 2009. We included a side trip to Port Orchard this year where the town was having a Pirate Fest of some sort. The sun came out and it was an enjoyable side trip. It looked like a lot of fun for the locals who were all dressed in pirate costume.
Tug Fest Photos - It was nice to rekindle friendships won last year and make new acquaintances. There were lots of beautiful boats there and the event was fruitful in more ways than just the organic drag racing. There were lots of prizes, laughter and promises to try and connect next cruising season.
