The Only Cruise of the Port Nut in August, 2015 - The Southern Gulf Islands
2015 was a transitional year for our family. After 26 years in the same home, we sold it and spent most of the early summer in reducing our possessions in anticipation of a move. In addition, we had the requisite cabin time with family and friends. Then, of course, we had to search for a new location where we would live, so cruising became a low priority and was relegated to the back burner. When we finally embarked on the one cruise we had squeezed into our schedule, the first mate fell ill just days into it. After a few days, it became clear that this was not a minor ailment and so she took a ferry home to visit a doctor while the Port Nut remained behind until a break in the winds. There wasn't one, so the crossing of Georgia Strait was particularly rough.
Eventually, a gall bladder was removed and even a new home found. We find ourselves healthy, but far from the coast we so much enjoyed cruising. But nearby is Okanagan Lake which is an 80 mile long waterway (130 km) and we are looking forward to 2016 when we anticipate doing a survey of the new cruising area and making some watery friends.Thank you for your interest in boating on Canada's Left Coast.
